Shipping

Where do you ship?

United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and most of the EU. Shipping is free on 5-packs and 10-packs.

How long does delivery take?

7–20 business days, tracked from dispatch. Multi-packs ship together in one parcel.

Can I get it faster?

Not currently. If you need a filter this week, your local outdoor shop is the right answer and we'll say so.

Do I pay customs?

Orders to the US under $800 and to the UK under £135 are generally not charged import duty. Elsewhere, local duties may apply and are the customer's responsibility.

How do I get the free guides?

Every 5-pack and 10-pack includes The Family Water Backup Plan and The Home & Go-Bag Checklist as PDFs. They arrive by email within a few minutes of your order, before the straws do.

Returns and the 365-day guarantee

How does the guarantee work?

Use the straw for up to a year. If it is not what we said it is, reply to your order email and we refund the purchase price. No forms, no photos, no questions.

Can I return an unopened pack?

Yes, within the same 365 days, for a refund to the original payment method.

What if a straw arrives damaged or won't draw?

Email a photo and we send a replacement. A new straw needs a few firm pulls to prime the membrane; if flow stays poor, back-flush it with the syringe.

About the straw

What does it filter, and what doesn't it?

Bacteria, protozoa and sediment: yes, that is what a 0.01-micron hollow-fibre membrane is for. Viruses, salt, heavy metals and chemical spills: no. For floodwater or anything downstream of sewage, filter first and then boil or add tablets.

How much water does one straw filter?

The supplier rates it at 1,500 litres. Real-world life depends on how murky the water is and how often you back-flush. Membrane rating and capacity are the supplier's specifications until our independent lab report is published.

Three ways to use it?

Drink directly at the source. Screw it onto a standard 28 mm bottle, fill with dirty water and sip or squeeze clean. Or fill the included pouch, connect the tube and hang it up so a litre of clean water runs into a container hands-free.

How do I clean and store it?

Push clean water back through with the syringe to clear trapped sediment, cap both ends and store. It is ready again immediately. Keep it from freezing with water inside; in dry storage there is no expiry.

Is it the same straw as in the photos and clips?

Yes. The demonstration clips are produced for Plan Backup with the retail straw, pouch and syringe. They are not customer footage. Colours may vary slightly by batch.

Why five?

One per person, one per car. A 5-pack covers a family of four with a spare for the go-bag, and it is the pack that comes with the two guides free.

About Plan Backup

Are you connected to the government or the military?

No. We're an independent retailer. We cite official guidance and link to it so you can check it yourself.

Why should I trust you over a free government checklist?

You shouldn't trust us instead of it; read both. The free checklists tell you what to store. The straw is for the day the stored water runs out, and the guides tell you how much to store for your household.
